Bhaktapur (also
Bhatgaon), town in central Nepal, near Kathmandu. Agriculture is the
main occupation of the surrounding area, whose produce is processed in
the town. Bhaktapur has several well-preserved temples and a splendid
palace dating from the 17th and 18th centuries. In 1979, the Bhaktapur
palace complex was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Population
